Andreas Avdoulos: Documentary Wedding Photographer.
Hi there, I’m Andreas, a documentary wedding photographer who specializes in creating very intimate, candid and relaxed photographs of ordinary people celebrating this one extraordinary day together.
My approach is really laid-back. It’s based on the art of observation over fabrication. I like to blend in, let things happen naturally, and capture the real moments so couples can just enjoy their day without worrying about the camera.
I’ve photographed a number of destination weddings in places like Japan, Nice, Tuscany and Greece — but I mostly photograph in my own backyard in Toronto and across Ontario from Muskoka to Niagara on the Lake.

“What we wanted from our wedding photos were natural moments, organic emotions, and a sense of nostalgia.”

Meet Andreas Avdoulos — Your Documentary Wedding Photographer
As a documentary wedding photographer, I think the best wedding photos are candid, feel authentic, and show what actually happened.
If you’re anything like me, you’re a no nonsense, easy going, sentimental type and when you imagine what the photos of your wedding will look like, you see natural, authentic images that show what actually happened.
What I do is very personal, and how I do it isn’t for everyone — but it may be for you.

Client Reviews.
We had a wonderful experience with Andreas! His pictures were exactly what we had hoped for and really captured our special day. He was incredibly easy to get along with and made the extra effort to shoot our wedding even after a very long flight the night before. Definitely recommend!

– Vanja Petkovich
I’ve booked Andreas to shoot my wedding because I was so inspired by not only his work and portfolio but also his energy, kindness, and passion. He’s very flexible and accommodating plus communication is always open.

“Andreas knows how to capture emotion. It’s very easy for someone to come and take a bunch of photos but to capture emotion takes a special eye and makes those photos come to life.”

A Note from Andreas
When I began photographing weddings I knew that I wanted to approach the day with the mindset of me being at an event for my own family, simply observing and capturing memorable moments - no directing, no staging, nothing pre determined - just me, a camera, and my full attention on what was happening around me.
I’ve photographed hundreds of weddings representing a wide range of cultures and traditions, locally and abroad since 2004. That’s when I transitioned my life from a commercial photographer working in advertising to a photographer of weddings and private family events.
I believe the my role as your photographer isn’t to “tell your story” but to present you with a set of images made from my point of view, so that you can remember the day, and tell your own stories, through your own perspective.
It’s not about recreating trendy images, working with a pre-determined shot list, or even really planning anything out (except the family portraits). For me, it’s about the art of observing over fabricating anything.
I also think it’s very important that the photography experience for you is relaxed and as stress free as possible, which is why I work alone.
Other couples that have also chosen me as their photographer feel the same way. They often tell me in our initial phone call what they value, and posing for staged, formulaic photographs is certainly not on that list.
You want great photos, are willing to invest in that, but don’t want to be forced into being performative - after all, the wedding is enough of a performance as it is.
If this is the experience you’re looking for from your wedding photographer, and the work I’ve presented resonates with you, I look forward to meeting you next year at your wedding.
Thank you for your interest in having me photograph your wedding.
